The Barn is on the right hand side of the courtyard and was named when it was converted from the original barn, in 1998, along with the smaller Stables cottage (named after .. you’ve guessed it .. the original stables building). The cottages opened to the first guests for the Millenium, in 1999. It has maintained original features such as oak beams and stonework, whilst being equipped with comfort and ease of use in mind. The front door opens into a hall, with plenty of hanging space for coats and boot trays for those all important wellies and walking boots. To the right is the lounge with its full height ceiling, feature gallery and woodburner which makes this room really cosy in the cooler months. The ground floor of The Barn has been designed for our less able guests, and apart from the downstairs loo, is fully accessible for wheelchair users (who will of course use their own bathroom facilities).
To the left is the kitchen, equipped with a range style cooker & hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, toasters x 2, kettles x 2, plenty of crockery, cutlery and other equipment.
Climb the stairs up to the other 4 bedrooms, first a twin with en-suite bathroom. The only bath in the cottage is in this bathroom .. great for bathing all the children .. and a shower over the bath. Mind your head on the beam in the bedroom. Next is another twin, and another low beam, this time in the en-suite shower room, and another low beam. At the end of the building, to the left is a single bedroom with en-suite shower room and to the right is the only double .. a decadent bedroom also with en-suite shower room.
Back downstairs, just past the kitchen is the accessible bedroom and en-suite, and further on still is the dining room which seats 13. A pool table hides under the dining table top. Just off the dining room is a small utility area and beyond that, the downstairs loo. Another exterior door opens off the utility area.
It’s a great place for families and friends to get together for their celebrations and get-togethers, whilst enjoying their own private facilities.
The Stables – sleeps 4
1 double, 1 twin, 1 bathroom (shower over the bath), open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area
The Stables is on the left of the courtyard, converted from the stables block of the original farm. Open the door into a hall where you’ll find hooks for hanging coats, and a boot tray for wellies and walking boots. To the right you will walk straight into the well equipped kitchen and dining area and then to the open plan area with the woodburner at the far end .. light it and you’ll soon find yourself starting to relax in this luxurious stables conversion. Walk out of the kitchen down the corridor to the twin bedroom, past that to the bathroom where you’ll find a shower over the bath. Beyond that is the double bedroom with TV. Both bedrooms are themed, but we’ll leave you to find out what the themes are.
The Steadings – sleeps 13
The Barn (for 9) & The Stables (for 4) combined.
Barn – 1 double with en-suite shower room, 1 twin with en-suite bathroom, 1 twin with en-suite shower room, 1 twin with en-suite wet room, 1 single with en-suite shower room
Stables – 1 double, 1 twin, shared bathroom
This ‘virtual’ cottage combines The Barn and The Stables to give you a larger cottage. For a family group The Stables is great for the grandparents to have a bit of peace and quiet .. or perhaps the other way round? It’s up to you.
