Ashover - Village of the Year 2005

Moor Barns are situated in the picturesque parish of Ashover.
Mentioned as Essovre in the 1086 Doomsday book Ashover has developed a great deal over the years. All Saints church with it's 128ft spire sits in Church Street and is a well known local landmark and dates back some 600 years with one doorway dating back to 1275.
On 8 December 2005 Ashover won the coveted Calor Village of the Year title.
Prince
Charles visited Ashover to help celebrate it's regional win in
the Calor 10th Anniversary Calor Village of the Year.
Having
won the regional competition Ashover was announced as overall
winner by Alan Titchmarsh at a presentation in London in
December 2005.
Ashover is even a television star! For a time it was the fictional village of Cardale in the ITV drama series Peak Practice.
